Story behind Ra Villa

Ra Villa is a unique farm stay nestled deep in the heart of a coconut plantation. It is the first of its kind in the country, designed and built around an actual coconut tree. Authentic charm is added to the interior of the farm stay with natural tree trunks scattered throughout, allowing guests to connect with nature. With its secluded location and beautiful scenery, Ra Villa is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. We had to take care that not a single tree was harmed. Along with this, we have emphasized using local and recyclable ingredients

Our mission was to create a modern and sustainable farm stay. The standard of living is kept high despite the traditional mud house construction, with utilities such as a swimming pool, a barbeque area, and other facilities. We wanted to make sure that our farm stay was completely sustainable, so we designed the swimming pool in such a way that the water can be reused in the fields. To top it off, we also added a solar water purification system, making sure that every drop of water was used efficiently.

The unique construction of the farmhouse involved the use of interlocking clay bricks and forgoing cement plaster. This helps to create a comfortable internal temperature, and handmade tiles from Athangudi in Tamil Nadu, and Karaikudi stones for the pillars were used to ensure a sturdy construction. The farmhouse was designed to be naturally air-conditioned and energy-saving during the summer months, which makes it a great choice for sustainable living. Additionally, the clay bricks offer superior sound insulation compared to other materials, creating a peaceful environment for dwelling.

The house is remarkable in many ways, as it was constructed by utilizing pillars that date back over 300 years ago. This house is designed in the traditional Chettinad style, an architectural heritage of Tamil Nadu, which features a central courtyard, adding to its beauty and charm. This courtyard is surrounded by a variety of structures that are an integral part of the house and provide a unique sense of nostalgia. This timeless structure is not only aesthetically pleasing but also provides a unique glimpse into the past.

Our farm stay offers a unique experience for guests who are looking to appreciate the heritage of the area. We have upcycled old furniture from the farm, giving it new life and allowing visitors to experience a piece of our past. Those who stay with us can take advantage of our various hiking trails, dams, farms, and other interesting locations. Our goal is to provide an eco-friendly experience to all who visit, allowing them to enjoy the beauty of our land in a sustainable way.
